The context

The conditions the work is planned against

These are national figures, published by the police and by the United Nations. They are not here to alarm anyone. They are the conditions a plan has to survive.

    Murders in a single year

About 68 a day. One roughly every 21 minutes.

    SAPS 2024/25

More than five times the global average of 6.2.

    UNODC and SAPS

  • 22,078

    Carjackings in a single year

About 60 a day. Most begin at a gate or in a driveway.

    SAPS 2023/24

  • 210,652

Home burglaries in a single year

Residential burglary. About 577 a day.

    SAPS 2023/24

    Rapes in a single year

About 117 a day, within 53,285 sexual offences.

    SAPS 2023/24

  • 17,061

    Kidnappings in a single year

About 47 a day, and up 264% in ten years.

    SAPS 2023/24 and ISS

  • 140,572

Armed robberies in a single year

Robbery with aggravating circumstances. About 385 a day.

    SAPS 2023/24

  • 1,976

Truck hijackings in a single year

Freight taken off the road. Up 54% in a decade.

    SAPS 2023/24

Figures as published by the South African Police Service in its annual crime statistics. The rate comparison is drawn from United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime data. Murder and carjacking totals have declined year on year. The scale has not.

Method

How an engagement works

This is the shape of an engagement, not a schedule. No step below carries a time, because the time depends on what the survey finds.

  1. The call

You call, or you write. Both numbers are published in full on this page and one of them is Henry Venter's direct line. Nothing on this site puts a form between a client and a telephone.

  2. The risk conversation

Before anyone visits we need to understand what is actually being protected: who, where, what has happened before, and what the worst outcome would look like. The brief comes out of that conversation, not out of a brochure.

  3. The survey

Then we come and look. The property, the route, the event or the operation is surveyed on the ground and the threats against it are assessed in place, because a vulnerability is something you find by walking a perimeter rather than by discussing one.

  4. The plan

You are given a measure written for what the survey found: which people, which systems, and what each of them is there to stop. Tailor-made is not a figure of speech here. The catalogue is where a plan starts, not a menu it is ordered from.

  5. The deployment

Operators are handpicked and vetted before they are put in front of a client, and the posture is agreed with you rather than assumed: armed or unarmed, uniformed or deliberately low profile.

  6. The review

An engagement is not finished when the first shift starts. Installed systems are maintained rather than handed over, and the response to an incident is planned before there is an incident to respond to.

Who we are

A benchmark for security, built on trust.

SM Specialized Security Management exists to distinguish itself from the typical security provider. Our teams are handpicked and vetted, chosen for discipline, judgement and discretion rather than convenience.

From executive and close protection to specialized guarding, surveillance, crisis management and tailor-made risk mitigation, we combine seasoned expertise with continuous innovation. The result is protection that is professional, precise and quietly relentless.

Welcome to the next level of security management.

  1. Mission

To lead with integrity, deliver exceptional value, and set a benchmark in the security industry.

  2. Vision

To set the gold standard for security, both locally and internationally.

  3. Our promise

We innovate continuously to ensure our clients remain safe and secure in the moments that matter most.

Anyone can put a person in a uniform.

Why choose SM

The difference is in the standard.

We build protection around people, training and intelligence, so that the right call is made before a threat ever materialises.

Where we are

The Cape Peninsula, with the office on it

Geography is a fact, so here is ours. The office is at Unit A, Victory Park, Capricorn Business Park in Muizenberg.

The plan carries a coastline, a graticule at one tenth of a degree, a scale bar, the city and one marker for the office. It carries no coverage radius, no shaded region and no travel time, because not one of those is a fact we hold.

Whether we can take on work in a given place depends on the work. That is a question for the first call, and it is not something we are willing to answer in advance with a circle drawn on a map.

Compliance

PSIRA, stated plainly

A security business in South Africa is regulated, and so is every officer it deploys. Here is our standing, and the one line we are not printing yet.

PSIRA is the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority: the statutory body that regulates private security in South Africa. Registration is not a badge a company awards itself. It is a legal requirement, it is held by the business and by every officer individually, and it can be checked with the authority.

That last part is why the registration number is not in the record yet. It will appear there the day it has been checked against the live register, and not a day before. A number nobody can verify is worth less than no number at all, because on a compliance record it stops being a fact and becomes a claim.

Until then it is available on request. Ask on either line, or in writing.

Standing commitments

What you can hold us to

Nothing below is a new promise. Every one of them can be checked on this website, right now, without speaking to us first.

  • The number is printed in full.

Henry Venter's direct line is printed on this page in full, in the masthead and again at the foot. Nothing on this site asks a visitor to complete a form in order to be given a telephone number.

    Check it

It is in the masthead, in the contact register below, and in the footer of every page on the site.

  • The team is vetted before it is deployed, not after.

Operators are handpicked and vetted, and chosen for discipline, judgement and discretion rather than for convenience. Protection is low profile by default: the intention is that nobody notices it is there.

    Check it

Vetting is not only our own policy. Every security officer in South Africa must be registered with PSIRA in their own right, not merely the business that sends them.

  • Nobody is profiling you here.

We count visits with our own first-party measurement and nothing else: no third-party analytics service, no tag manager, no advertising pixel and no third-party captcha. It sets no cookies, stores no IP address and follows you to no other website. An enquiry goes to us and to nobody else.

    Check it

The privacy notice lists what the form collects, field by field, and the reason for each one.

  • An enquiry is never told it arrived when it did not.

The form reports success only when a delivery service has accepted the message. If it cannot deliver, it says so plainly, hands your brief back to you in full, and gives you the routes to send it yourself. It will not thank you for something that never left the building.

    Check it

The privacy notice states where an enquiry goes, and what has been provisioned to carry it.

  • We publish only what we can evidence.

There is not one performance figure on this website. No response time, no client count, no satisfaction score, no years in business. What is here instead is an address you can drive to, two numbers you can dial, a regulator you can check, and a catalogue that says exactly what we do.

    Check it

Look for a response time, a client count or a rating anywhere on this site. There is not one to find.
